In support of the Q-Shed Appeal, Stewart has kindly agreed that the LPG may sell the second volume of his definitive history of the Lightning at a substantial discount.

The recommended price of £75 plus £8 post & packing has been slashed to £59 with FREE post & packing.

(Incidentally the publisher and the author have completely sold out of copies of Volume 1. Being half the size of Volume 2 (345 pages) it was originally priced at £35 plus p&p, however on the rare occasions a copy appears on eBay it usually 'goes' for £90 upwards, some have made well over the 'ton'.)

The Biography of Test Pilot James L. Dell OBE by Frank Barnett-Jones. Jimmy Dell was one of the country’s last great test pilots who, working closely with Bee Beamont, test flew the Lightning, TSR.2 and Jaguar before his retirement. A remarkably modest man, the author tells Jimmy’s story in great detail with contributions from the man himself, plus several testimonials from others within the test flying fraternity. Sadly Jimmy passed away in Easter 2008 and we hope that this book is a fitting tribute to him. 240 x 170mm, 264pp, hardback, B and W photos.

The Lightning Preservation Group (LPG)

We are a group of enthusiasts based at Bruntingthorpe airfield Nr Leicester who are dedicated to maintaining two of the last few remaining English Electric LIGHTNING aircraft in airworthy condition.

RAF Wattisham Q-SHED - Rebuild complete but funds still needed

THEY PROTECTED YOU NOW YOU PROTECT THEM!

The re-erection of the RAF Wattisham QRA Shed is 100% completete thanks to the generosity of our supporters. All our donor's names are recorded on our Contributors Board in the hangar. However the building still has to be fitted out with storyboards telling the Cold War and Lightning histories. Added to this we have ongoing challenge to keep both Lightnings in fully functional condition. We have therefore decided to invite existing contributors to top up their donation at any time and at the same time invite new donors to the scheme whereby we will commission an new name, to be permanently displayed in the hangar, for a minimum of a £50 donation. You will be in good company as the likes of Wg Cdr Roland "Bee" Beamont are recorded. The specified name can be of your choice and we have a number of names "In memory of" which is a fitting way to remember a loved one or colleague. If you have the time, then please attend one of the Open Days. If you wish to make a donation, any amount, large or small is most welcome.
